Read This Before Your First Battle! How to Play Scan Battlers

Prepare for Battle

Call forth a Weapon, Shield, and Armour using Equipment Cards, then summon three monster allies and you're ready to go! Collect the coolest armour and the strongest monsters, then put together your very own team!

Prepare your equipment and Monster Cards before you start playing. (Don't worry if you don't have any Cards--you can rent them in-game.) You can even use another player's Cards! Just remember that if you don't scan your own Card before you start playing you won't be able to access your data.

Let the Battle Begin!

Battles are a team effort, where you fight alongside 3 monster allies! Increase your Tension to power up your spells & abilities, then choose which ones to perform and let the epic battle unfold!

Boost Tension to Power Up Spells & Abilities!

Use the joystick and the buttons to select whose Tension you want to boost! The more you boost a teammate's Tension, the more powerful their spells & abilities will become!

Once you've boosted a teammate's Tension, it's time to choose which spells & abilities you're going to use!

Aim for Perfect Timing in Battle!

Once you've chosen your spells & abilities, the battle begins in earnest! To build Tension, you'll need to mash buttons and time your presses during the battle too! Also, you may get to perform a Guard Action and block an opponent's attack with your shield, so stay on the alert!

Master Your Vocation and Gain the Upper Hand in Battle!

You may earn a Vocation Bonus in battle based on your vocation! If that bonus activates, all of your team members will get a boost to certain stats! It's very important to build a team that matches your vocation!

Also, boosting your Tension one more level above Super-High Tension lets you perform a special Career Move based on your vocation! If you have monsters on your team with matching vocational preferences, they'll make it easier for you to get a Sweet Success on your Career Move!

The Warrior's Career Move, Heave 'N' Cleave, delivers a powerful blow to your opponent!

End the Fight with an Ultimate Attack!

Make use of powerful finishing moves by using the spells & abilities on Special Cards or reaching Ultra-Super High Tension! When you have such powerful techniques at your disposal, victory is at your fingertips!
